Mosquito Control in our area!! What you need to know about the truck spraying.

Spraying insecticides from a truck is one way to safely kill mosquitoes in an area.
Truck spraying is used to:
Š Control and reduce the number of mosquitoes that can spread viruses.
Š Reduce your chances of getting infected with viruses.
Mosquito control trucks spray very small amounts of insecticide into the air to kill mosquitoes. This spray is a fine mist that acts as a fogger in the area. Is the spray harmful to people, pets, animals, or the environment? No, when done correctly, truck spraying will not harm people, pets, animals, or the environment. Spraying is safe! You do not need to leave an area when truck spraying for mosquito control takes place. If you prefer to stay inside and close windows and doors you can, but it is not necessary. The spray does not harm pets, but you may choose to bring them inside when spraying occurs.

Flooding in the Surrounding Area Impacts Our Community (610 @ Broadway)!

Oak Meadows persevered through another day of flooded streets throughout our neighborhood. We also experienced black smoke and flaring from TPC due to a power outage, mirroring the power outages in some homes within Oak Meadows. Additionally, large pieces of trash floated down the streets, and red ants were active. Teenagers began walking the streets after the rain subsided. Notably, neighbors assisted one another by providing assistance to those whose vehicles were flooded, enabling them to return home. Thank you, Oak Meadows, for your neighborly support during this flooding event.

Budget Survey Open and Ready!

Harris County Precinct 2 wants to hear from you about which county services are most important to keep, where you think the county could make some cuts, and whether you would support raising taxes to avoid these cuts.  Your feedback will help guide tough decisions in the months ahead.

To lend your input to the budget-making process, please take3-5 minutes to complete this brief, anonymous survey.   To participate, you must be:

OMCC Minutes July 22, 2025

At approximately 645pm our meeting began with our guest Garret Berg with the Port Houston Group. Mr. Berg explained to all the need to shape our community together, the need of our residents’ ideas for Park and community improvement. First, they began by inquiring what it is that brought you to Oak Meadows and what you liked the most about our neighborhood. People responded through the questions and came up with several ideas for future improvement on the maps provided. We proceeded through this
process until everyone’s suggestions were heard. Here is a list of improvements that everyone agreed on:

1.  Cover for basketball court;
2.  Sail shades over playground;
3.  2nd covered gazebo on opposite end of park;
4.  More Trees at Park
5.  Something about a trail thru the wooded area by OFA to go
     towards Glenbrook Park across Old Galveston

Near the end of meeting, Garret Berg with the assistance of one of our young attendees, began the raffling of gift cards from Wal-Mart and HEB. Everyone was so excited that won the giveaways. Prior to start of meeting, the officers of the Civic Club had agreed to delay the reading of minutes from past meeting, along with details of the Treasurer’s report.
Meeting adjourned near 8pm.
