Good evening, Oak Meadows Civic Club Team,

I hope you are all doing well as we get ready to kick off our school year. As we aim to strengthen our partnership, we are pleased to soon host your meeting. I want to share with the community an update to our Car Rider Dismissal systems that will benefit all community members. We value the feedback received seeking an improved and smooth dismissal system alleviating traffic and cutting wait times. In the past, vehicles entered Rucker from all 4 ways (North and South Vinett St, East and West Christine St. creating additional traffic, slowing down the car flow, and risking having an accident).

To improve our practices, this school year,  all car rider parents will drive into Rucker car rider (front parking) by driving East on Christine St. or South down Vinett St only (green arrows below). As vehicles exit Rucker, they will be able to turn right or left on Christine St (red arrows below). This will alleviate traffic congestion, prevent possible car accidents, and minimize adult disputes in public areas. I hope to count with your support as we partner to have a successful 2026-2027 school year.

The map below will provide a visual of how the car traffic will proceed.

We will inform Rucker Elementary families of this update this week via our website, Parent Square communication app messages and call-outs, as well as during our annual Meet the Teacher event on Thursday, August 6th. Please let us know if you have any questions or suggestions.

We want to ensure you and your family are ready. Here are some simple ways you can prepare long before a storm hits the gulf:

Build an emergency kit – Stock up on essentials like water, non-perishable food, medications, flashlights, and batteries. https://bit.ly/42CsTsM

Have someone who needs special assistance? Help first responders by registering them with the State of Texas Emergency Assistance Registry (STEAR): https://bit.ly/4iJpux3

Don’t forget your pets! Here’s how to make sure they’re ready, too: https://bit.ly/4lUzENX
