Oak Meadows Hurricane Beryl food & essentials distribution by TPC Group, Invista, Port Houston and Valero!

TPC Group, Invista, Port Houston and Valero supported the Oak Meadows Community, the Company’s near neighbors in Houston’s east end, in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl.

“Hurricane Beryl, one of our toughest time when we were all going through a test of patience and faith due to the enormous power outage ending after eight days,” said Michelle Garcia, Vice President, Oak Meadows Civic Club. The surrounding Company’s generosity ensured residents had cool, filtered water! Residents barbecued chicken and turned on flash lights to fill the night which seemed like a candle light picnic in the middle of one of the darkest nights in the east end. Neighbors came together and rallied to feed neighbors, deliver water, ice, gas gift cards close to 200 families!

TPC supported these efforts by delivering a pallet of water, HEB Gift Cards, bags of ice, flashlight batteries and work gloves.

Invista supported Walmart gift card to distribute bags of chicken.

Port Houston supported pallets of bagged ice and cases of water.

Valero donated 25- gas gift cards

Thank you Plant Neighbors!”

Reactivation of Super Neighborhood 75

IMG_20150417_1

Meadowcreek Village (our community neighbor) has approached the city to explore the reactivation of Super Neighborhood 75 which encompasses the Meadowbrook/Allendale area and includes Meadowcreek Village, Oak Meadows, Glenbrook Park and a number of schools in the area. The Super Neighborhood would serve as an opportunity for the residents, schools, churches, businesses and other stakeholders in the larger area to get together and discuss issues affecting the community, host speakers, and apply for city funding for community-improvement projects.

Since we, Oak Meadows is one of the principal neighborhoods that would be included in Super Neighborhood 75 it would greatly improve and benefit our living surroundings. City representatives  were present to explain the process to get the Super Neighborhood back up and running as well as some of the other stakeholders.

Speakers and attendees from left to right: Kevin Calfie – Division Manager-COH P&D; Mark Johnson – MVCC, Maria Bolanos – Liaison-Mayor’s Office, Michelle Miranda, Oak Meadow’s-Civic Club President; Kathryn Pait –  Missy Meadowbrook, Meadowbrook, Evan Austin -Division Manager-Councilman Martin’s Office, Suzanne Hoy Riggenbach, Meadowcteek Village Civic Club President; Mark Clemmons MVCC Treasurer and involved citizens from all communities!

Speaker: TPC – Air Monitoring

FullSizeRender_resized

We had a great meeting! TPC Group Sara Cronin, Mark Garza, Robert Parnell and Michelle Pyner showed a presentation regarding their mission, their commitment to all surrounding neighbors, air quality, flaring and of the Phoenix project. It was both informative and educational for all residents involved.  TPC provided breakfast for us all and has provided several resources that can be helpful to us all.

Do you have several questions around air monitoring? Although some of you are aware of TCEQ, I think there are a few resources you may find interesting.

I’ve included the links here:

·         Houston Regional Monitoring (http://hrm.radian.com/)

·         TCEQ’s Air Pollutant Watch List (http://www.tceq.texas.gov/permitting/air/apwl/apwl.html)

·         OnAir: Houston.Org (http://houstonairquality.com/)
