Utilizing 3-1-1 to Report Issues

Residents may act as extra eyes and ears on the streets, and soon you’ll be able to report a pothole, a malfunctioning traffic light, or a drainage problem while you’re out and about. Houston 311 has launched a new smartphone app that makes reporting issues like these easier than ever. The app uses GPS to identify your location and also allows you to snap a photo to add to your service request. The new app allows for reports to be automatically routed to city departments for resolutions.

You can still alert the City of Houston of issues by dialing 3-1-1 or 713-837-0311 of potential problems in your community. Houstonians can also access this helpful service via an e-mail to 311@HoustonTX.gov. A self Service Request (SR) form is available online at www.houston311.org. Once you’ve reported a problem please follow up with the District E office by emailing your case number and information on the issue to the District E office at districte@houstontx.gov to help make sure the problem is addressed in a timely manner.

CenterPoint Energy maintains streetlights throughout District E and the City of Houston. If you notice a streetlight out in your area, please click on the link below to report a streetlight outage.You will be asked to provide:​​a pole number (or nearby address) for the non-functioning lights you want to reportcontact information (in case more information is needed to locate a streetlight)an e-mail address (if you want feedback regarding your repair request)the number of streetlights you would like to report​The system will guide you through the remaining steps. To report a streetlight outage using the interactive map, click here.Report general power outages by calling 713-207-2222 or toll-free 800-332-7143.

Dear District E Residents,
I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as the new Houston City Council Member for District E and represent every community across the district. As I begin my term, I would like to share a few areas of focus that I believe are of utmost importance to our community’s well-being and growth.
First and foremost, public safety is a top priority for me. It is crucial that we all feel secure and protected in our homes and neighborhoods. I am committed to working closely with our Houston Police Department Divisions to ensure they have the resources and support they need to keep our community safe. I plan to utilize my Council District Service Funds to supplement the District E HPD Divisions’ efforts to keep us safe. Together, we can foster strong relationships with law enforcement and implement proactive strategies to prevent crime and create a sense of security.
Additionally, as many of you are aware, our community has experienced its fair share of challenges when it comes to flooding. Addressing flood mitigation is a critical task that requires immediate attention. I will continue the strong work put forth by Council Member Dave Martin and work diligently with Houston Public Works, Harris County Flood Control District, and Harris County among other experts to implement comprehensive measures that effectively manage and mitigate flooding risks. We must invest in infrastructure and projects that will safeguard our homes and businesses from future flood events. This includes the Lake Houston Spillway Dam Improvement Project, dredging Lake Houston, and continued funding for local drainage projects.
Lastly, infrastructure improvements are vital for the growth and prosperity of any community. Our roads, bridges, water systems, and utilities play a crucial role in enhancing our quality of life. I am committed to collaborating with my fellow council members and seeking innovative solutions to improve our community’s infrastructure. By focusing on targeted investments and strategic planning, we can ensure our transportation systems are efficient, our utilities are reliable, and our community remains accessible to all.
I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to our community’s continued success, and I am committed to representing your interests and concerns. As your council member, I encourage you to reach out to me with any questions, ideas, or suggestions you may have. Together, we can make a significant and lasting impact on the issues that matter most to us.

We hope you all are enjoying the latest park renovations the civic club diligently worked on your behalf. The Park board with Mayor Turner office along with so many sponsors made it happen for you!! We see so many of you walking the trails and the kids playing and riding bikes. How many of you like the gazebo?

We are currently working on our next project, the neighborhood marker! We are requesting two, to be located on Ahrens street/Allen Genoa and Howard/Michael street. Let us come together to beautify our community!

Minutes of Oak Meadows Civic Club Meeting

Tuesday, February 20, 2024

Meeting was called to order at 7:00pm by President Jesus Gonzalez.

Due to attendance being below quorum required for Voting purposes – Election of officers did not take place at this meeting. Current Committees were discussed and Nominees were put to the floor by Rita Snow and this motion was seconded by Jennifer Peria, MG and NF. Rita S. stated that she will act as Secretary until someone is nominated to become secretary full time. JG briefly reminded the reasoning of stepping up as President and how our neighborhood has a lot of potential for improvements in becoming more prosperous and unified. He wishes more residents would participate. There is a need for Volunteers to serve committee’s such as Social and Beautification to assist our neighborhood.

  • 7:11pm Dustin Hodges, Chief of Staff with Councilman Flickinger’s discuss several issues regarding OM Park. 
  1. Soccer goals to be a permanent fixture, nets coming along with striping of field for soccer.
  2. Park table situation, the COH parks dept will replace two (2) tables back to where they were located and CM Flickinger’s office will cover the costs of the other two (2) tables that were removed without notification and conviction by those who work within Parks dept.
  3. Handicap entries will be first on the list to get completed in March.
  4. Current light poles will soon be fitted with LED fixtures and turned so that light will be on the inside of park instead of facing outside.
  5. Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) issues will take place later this year under the new administration and our water lines being 74 yrs old will be studied.
  6. It is agreed that no black top will go on our streets.
  7. A current study is being performed for the possible traffic light on Allen Genoa at Ahrens.  Resident, Mr. Mendoza brought up issue that many traffic accidents took place in December and January at this intersection.

Mr. Hodges mentioned that in the near future an electronic recycling event may take place at the Monroe Park-n-Ride location. More details to come.

  • advised of the many tickets he has written for running stop signs and the 18 wheelers cutting through on Ahrens to Allen Genoa – or vice versa. He stated that the Constable’s office Precinct 2 will also assist on calls to please contact them in case HPD has not shown up.
  • Lock your guns so that no child can get ahold of them. Contact him if there is any problem.
  • Junk Motor Vehicles (JMV) and Abandoned homes were reported for investigation.
  • Save the date! March 23, 2024 at Mason Park HPD will hold a community event from 9am to 2pm. Vendor trucks will be on location.

1)  Handicap Entries to OM Park -they are waiting on Public works who already has all the permits to do the work – but they are still in the design of entryway. 

2)  Tables at OM Park – still in discussion with Parks Dept & legal over replacement issues

3)  Lights at OM Park – Don’t know if they have been repaired/replaced with LED fixtures to work dust to dawn and whether the lights have been turned to light up park instead of outside area

4)  Replacement of the two BBQ pits that were stolen from OM Park – Parks dept advised that they would come after renovation was completed.

5)  No Left Turn Sign – discussion still ongoing on removal of NO Left Turn signs and possible traffic light on Allen Genoa

Minutes of Board Mtg on 1.20.2024 

Our mtg was called to order by President Jesus Gonzalez at 940am. Introductions were given by those in attendance, MG, JG, TG, NF, RS and Ms. Melissa Arce joined the officers in attendance as our new person for website updates.

MG stated that our main goal for 2024 was to keep our community in

order and continue with CC to run smoothly, including committees for beautification – socialization – website – and communication to residents.

The expense audit of 2023 was produced by Treasurer Ms. Gonzalez and Ms. Norma Flores. 

MG mentioned that the two expenses paid from TPC for the website of OMCC and Invista’s payment for the sign printing needed to be documented in Expense Report since they were paid direct to website organizer and Printer.

RS noted that the report also needed to document what the payments were used for on report.

NF advised that she will put all info on members in an Excel spreadsheet.

Topics also discussed were speak to Capt/HPD and Lt over evening shift about visible patrol prior to July 4th, reach out to Judge about community service workers and touch base with Incarnate Word church on community service workers.  MG also  mentioned that she has spoke with Principal Rucker School about holding CC mtgs at school.

At the upcoming meeting, there will be nomination and voting on officers.

Suggested speakers were 1.  Officer Silva HPD to cover gun shots, fireworks, HT violations and drug dealing homes; 2. CM Flickinger’s office representative Yasmin Perez to cover park soccer field goals and markings, removal of NLT signs and possibility of traffic light; & 3. Constable Garcia.
