As we begin our summer vacation season and our children are home from school, the Oak Meadows Civic Club would like to share a few ideas for discussion with your families and neighbors.

As we begin our summer vacation season and our children are home from school, the Oak Meadows Civic Club would like to share a few ideas for discussion with your families and neighbors.
October could be an exciting month with two community activities at Oak Meadow Park!
National Night Out – Tuesday, October 6, 2026
Last year, we partnered with Rucker Elementary School and held National Night Out on the school grounds under the covered area nearest the park. The event took place from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM
and gave residents an opportunity to meet representatives from Councilmember Flickinger’s office, as well as the police officers and constables who make Oak Meadows safe with their patrolling our neighborhood.
This year, we would love to bring National Night Out back into Oak Meadow Park and include vendors and activities that make your visit even more enjoyable.
Halloween at Oak Meadow Park
Last year, your Civic Club introduced the idea of celebrating Halloween in Oak Meadows Park. Since Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, we believe it creates an even better opportunity for a fun-filled community event!
Imagine decorating tables, creating spooky displays or haunted houses, and having our teenagers participate to make the event exciting for our younger children. We currently have approximately 14 tables around the park area, and the Civic Club would like to offer a prize or two for the best-decorated displays.
To make these events successful, we need your participation. Most importantly, we want to create a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience for the children and families of Oak Meadows.
That is why we are beginning this discussion now, in July. We want to give everyone plenty of time to share ideas, discuss plans with family members and neighbors, and decide how we can make these events special.
We have a beautiful park in Oak Meadows, and we should use it to bring our community together, create lasting memories, and provide safe and fun activities for our children.
